Objective:
cleanse your mind of any thoughts or emotions. Ready for action.
Note:
have the knees bend and soft, don't lock them.

hidari jodan soto uke - migi jodan kamaete
Tachikata:
mahanmi neko ashi dachi
Objective:
isolate the use of downward gravity, while doing a sideway defense.
Note:

Move straigt down. Drop the body. therefore, mahanmi neko ashi is used. Don't think of lowering the waist, rather think of "unblocking" the knee. Hiza no nuki.

The right arm functions as kamae and should be ready to react to any movement.

Technique:
hidari chudan uchi uke - migi chudan tettsui otoshi uke.
Tachikata:
mahanmi neko ashi dachi
Objective:
use both hands for different functions in different directions at the same time, also the twist of the waist and upperbody are as important
Note:
make sure not do destroy the nekoashi when twisting the upperbody

jodan zuki - chudan zuki - chudan zuki. defend using jodan soto uke, uchi uke, tettsui otoshi uke

Tachikata:
shizentai
Objective:
strike high and remain "low" with the body. punch with the whole body and withdraw the left foot with the whole body
Note:
smoothly do these continous movements, do not rush them. don't move the head.

from tettsui otoshi uke, grab the last chudan attack and counter with tettsui uchi

Objective:
remaining gravity centre, emphasise the jodan shuto defense. change of enbusen should be emphasised when movement and change occurs simultaneously, like pinan sandan / godan move 1.
Note:
take care where you put the right foot after kicking. make sure to be able to switch to mahanmi neko ashi dachi without moving the centre of gravity.

Objective:
practise of forward movement and jodan shuto uke
Note:
make sure the neko ashi points straight forward
Kaisetsu:
as the opponent moves back, follow and defend from jodan zuki as the opponent attacks again.

Note:
the defense should be in harmony with the bodymovement

as the opponent moves back, follow and defend from jodan zuki as the opponent attacks again.

Objective:
use the shuto kamae for shuto attack. (all open hand techniques are called shuto)
Note:
move the nukite in a straight line from the kamae

as the opponent moves back, follow and counter with nukite

Objective:
practise of turning movement and jodan shuto uke (using the front foot as a pivot)
Note:
don't forget to imagine your opponent and be ready to use the shuto kamae for any attack, or defense

the first part of this kata, including the "moving back" part are the keypoints of this kata. However, the rest of the kata focusses on correct use of jodan shuto uke

forward mahanmi use suggests irimi, nagashi and kuzushi

repeat correct shuto. (using the back foot as a pivot)
Note:
the hidari shuto should be kamae lightly touching suigetsu

correct shuto occurs from the elbow (hiji) not by the shuto itself

change of seichusen, this is nagashi/taisabaki
Note:
from the previous shuto, if attacked, the body is moved off seichusen creating a new one on the next enbusen.

stand on leg, stand with the whole body
Objective:
Follow the opponent who is retreating.
Note:
take care remaining the same height.

counter the opponent using maegeri

gyakuzuki dachi
Objective:
use the kette to add power to the gyakuzuki
Note:
after kicking in the centre with maegeri, make sure to not put it straight down, as the stance will become to narrow.

attack suigetsu with gyakuzuki
